One of the most exciting internal auditing networking events of the year, the 17th Southern African Internal Audit Conference, took place at the Sandton Convention Centre between the 11th and 13th of August.
The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Internal Audit: Guardians of Governance’ and tackled the topic of governance in the internal auditing industry. The conference was, as always, a great opportunity for experts to network, share ideas, discuss best practices and get a global perspective of the internal auditing industry.
BarnOwl exhibited at the event and it was great to touch base with many new prospective and existing clients. We have definitely seen an increase in the number of organisations looking to automate their audit processes, and also looking more and more at the integration between risk, compliance and audit. BarnOwl is one of the few software solutions on the market that provides a single, fully integrated governance, risk management, compliance and audit solution.
We also had a lucky draw to win a Kindle. The lucky winner was Bonolo Khupari from North West Department of Finance. The list of speakers at the 3-day conference included the likes of Public Protector Thuli Madonsela; CEO of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Dr Claudelle von Eck; City Press Editor, Ferial Haffajee; renowned journalist, Justice Malala; CEO of Transnet, Brian Molefe; National Treasury accountant-general, Michael Sass and Finance Minister, Nhlanhla Nene.
As BarnOwl we are very proud to be associated with the Institute of Internal Audit South Africa and to have been a sponsor of such a prestigious event.
